A Gentle adventure for outdoor lovers, who love campfires, amazing scenery, wild camps and camp cuisine. Be able to hike without a heavy backpack, however being able to take more gear due to good Canoe capacity.

This trek is for open dates, Between Jan - Mar for Minimum group of 4 persons, Price starting at £250 per person for 3 days and a group of 6 is £230 per person.

Price includes

  • All transport from Newcastle, Co Down to Carlow. Drop offs and pick ups at River starting and finishing points.

  • Equipment: Canoes, Oars, Life-jackets, dry Barrels, dry bags and tents.

3 days of Canadian style open top Canoe trekking, between Carlow and St Mullins, along the Barra River 

Itinerary

 

Day 1:  Meet at Donard Park, Newcastle for transport to Carlow. Safety, Itinerary Brief and equipment organisation, last minute personal purchases. Transport to River edge starting point. Head along River Passing Leighlinbridge and Disney Family Burial tombs to First camp near Bagenalstown. 

Day 2:  Bagenalstown - Borris, taking in some of the relaxing, pleasant scenary and sights such as Dunleckney Manor, Barracore mill and Borris house.

Day 3: Borris - St Mullins, following the River which passes between Mt Brandon and Mt Leinster, then on to Banana Wood and finishing in St Mullins, named after St Moling who founded a Monastery there in the 7th Century.
